Does Every TV Show Deserve its Own Video Game?

For those of us that were raised on a steady diet of TV and video games, most would probably agree that it is a very rare occurrence when a video game based off a TV show is anything more than disappointing. Sure there have been a few exceptions in the past; Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for example were all TV inspired video games that were considered successful games for the most part. On the opposite side of the spectrum however, there were games like Beavis …

Quick Potshots at Games I Haven’t Played All The Way Through

My gaming life has been in disarray lately. In anticipation of FarCry 2 (which is being shipped to me this very moment) I set out to finish the original, which I’ve let hang longer than any other game I failed to beat. I started playing FarCry like two years ago, got halfway through and then stopped. I picked it up about two months ago and got 3/4ths through and now I haven’t played it since. Obviously, this is serious business and priority #1.
But my impressions of FarCry have been pretty …

Five Stupid Things About…Bioshock

Even though it was inevitable, I’m still pleasantly surprised to see that BioShock 2 is already to the point where they have a little trailer out for it.
It was only about a year and a half ago that Bioshock smashed into the gaming scene like an overhyped meteor. Critical acclaim for this game would have had you believing that it was Jesus coming back in DVD-ROM form.
While many gamers complained that this was a watered down Kids-R-Us version of System Shock with hint arrows and infinite lives, others embraced it …

I tried to be paitent and wait for more clarification on this point, but I guess it’s either not coming or it’s just as simple as Blizzard is really just going to screw us again. In my other post, I was pretty much joking when I feigned fear at what the other announcements coming out of Blizz-con would be.
Honestly, a fee-based battle.net?! It’s really like they sat down and came up with a list of ways they could start alienating fans and become the Microsoft of the gaming world. This …

Anyone who bothers to read Video Game news already knows the DRM issues that EA is facing right now. In case you haven’t, EA has put limits on how many times you can install their latest games Spore and Red Alert 3. Also, the people that pirated the game had Spore out for download without the DRM before you could even buy it so it obviously deters no-one who cares.
Now the company is facing a backlash of gamers that are Boycotting EA until the issue is resolved. And now I ask …

A reader over at the consumerist had some trouble with Blizzard. He tried to download a copy of Diablo II from their digital store, but the download didn’t work. Blizzard’s customer service tried to help him do it again, but that also failed. They then suggested to just buy it at a store. So he bought the game three times and would like some money back.
I tried to purchase a digital download of Diablo II from blizzard.com’s online store two weeks ago. Everything seemed to be going fine until I …

Absolutely unbelieveable. Either this is a bad April fool’s joke (a favorite pasttime of Blizzard Entertainment) or there was a meeting to determine how best to start screwing up a sure thing. In a mindbogglingly stupid announcement from Blizz Con it was revealed that StarCraft II, which is already going to be late, is now set to be released as a trilogy, rather than as a single game. As in, one race per game.
Details are still sketchy as to how this will work, but it appears that there will be …

5 Stupid Things About FABLE: The Lost Chapters

I’d like to kick off what I hope will become somewhat of a series, with a game everyone can enjoy, Fable. It’s made friends with both console and PC gamers, and it’s generally considered to be very good, if not a must-play.
Also, my girlfriend has been playing this game non-stop. Add that exposure onto the fact that I’ve beaten the game three times myself – once as a bad character, once as a good character, once as a do-whatcha-feel-like character – and I feel like I know this game inside …

Hard to believe isn’t it? It’s been a little over ten years since Duke first offered up cash-for-flash to those infamous pixelated pole dancers. It was a great moment for pushing the envelope in a relatively new medium. And if you ask me, these moments have been far too few in recent years.
Sure, we’ve had the Hot Coffee scandal for GTA:SA, but instead of standing by their own, Rockstar did everything it could to please the uninformed soccer moms of America. From half-hearted apologies and patches to firing employees. Of …
