When I first saw the new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop, my first impression was to immediately look into getting one. It was instantly in my top contender list along with HP Omen, Acer Aspire VX 15 and Lenovo Legion laptops. I really liked how it looked. It was a tiny little bit flashy, like a gaming machine should, but did not look like a toy. Very nice.
So I started researching it and found a model that I really liked, and was around the price that I wanted to …

To go along with the new laptop (I still have not decided which one yet) I also need a new bag. As I was buying a new mouse from HP I checked to see what they have on offer in the bag/back pack department. As luck would have it they have a very nice Omen backpack on sale right now for only $29.99!
I am willing to take a chance on buying this thing without seeing it first for that price. It looks very nice and I will review how it …

So, while deciding to get a new gaming computer, I also figured I would get a new mouse to along with it. My mouse that I am using right now is a Microsoft intellimouse from many years ago. 15 years I think and it has worked great but I think it’s time for an upgrade.
So I have chosen the HP x9000 Omen Mouse. I really like the look of it, it is not too flashy and the side button looks to be in a good position. I realize that …

It is finally time for a new gaming computer. My desktop is old and I have not used it in over a year. My laptop has started to lag for some reason so cannot play online for long or my game will start to get out of sync with the other players.
The question is what do I get? I have been looking at a few different options and have in narrowed down to 4 models to choose from. Dell, HP, Acer and Lenovo. I will also need a new mouse …

KINECT – Issue with Height?

One thing that I never thought of until today was the issue of height with the Kinect camera for the Xbox 360.
When I first got the Kinect, I had it mounted about 4 1/2 feet off the ground and I would stand about 6 1/2 feet away from the camera. I had no issues with the Kinect seeing me or my face and would track me quite easily.
Now today we got a new TV stand that is much lower and the camera is now at a height of 32 inches, …

KINECT – First thoughts

I just finished playing with the KINECT for the Xbox 360. I have to say I am pleased. I also picked up Kinectimals with it and my 2 year old daughter that it was fantastic. She did not quite get how to play it, but she loves kitties. The game that comes with it, Kinect adventures is pretty good too and gives you a great workout with all the jumping and ducking and flailing about you have to do.
I am impressed with the technology so far. It knows who you …

R.I.P. Frank the 4th (Xbox) July 17, 2009

It happened again. Frank, my 4th xbox has caught the red virus. He had been coughing for a while. Wheezing whenever he would try to faithfully spin up another disc for me. I had been trying to take it easy on Frank, letting him perform light duty by loading all games to the hard drive before playing.
It had been working for awhile until last week. Frank fell asleep, froze up if you will during a particularly intense firefight in Vegas 2. I just started to play this as it has …

How to Add Wi-Fi to your Xbox 360 without getting ripped off

Everyone who gets an Xbox 360 has to ask themselves one question. How do I get this thing hooked up to my network? And if you are like me and everything in your house is wireless, then this is the route you would want to take.
The problem is that the Xbox 360 does not come with wireless built in, and the wireless dongle does not get packed in with any version of the Xbox 360 you can get.
So you go to the store to buy the wireless dongle which …

Dragon Natural Speaking is the world’s most famous voice-recognition software. It’s gone  through ten versions. And although there’s been serious improvement from when I started experimenting with it on version 5 or 6, the bottom line is it still sucks. Even with training and a good mic, I still can’t get it to write a single e-mail or essay without encountering numerous examples of self-parody. Or as Dragon would call it: Nuremberg exams of saved parrots. Don’t even get me started on Microsoft’s attempts at voice-recognition.
Even if they were to …

I do like seeing whatever Ben comes up with next, even though to me a lot of it looks like it would not be that useful. But this, this is one I think I would want. Actually, I know I would want it. Xbox 360 in laptop format. Fantastic. Think of how easy it would be to travel with it. I wonder if he would sell me one? – read more –
