KINECT – Issue with Height?

One thing that I never thought of until today was the issue of height with the Kinect camera for the Xbox 360.
When I first got the Kinect, I had it mounted about 4 1/2 feet off the ground and I would stand about 6 1/2 feet away from the camera. I had no issues with the Kinect seeing me or my face and would track me quite easily.
Now today we got a new TV stand that is much lower and the camera is now at a height of 32 inches, …

KINECT – First thoughts

I just finished playing with the KINECT for the Xbox 360. I have to say I am pleased. I also picked up Kinectimals with it and my 2 year old daughter that it was fantastic. She did not quite get how to play it, but she loves kitties. The game that comes with it, Kinect adventures is pretty good too and gives you a great workout with all the jumping and ducking and flailing about you have to do.
I am impressed with the technology so far. It knows who you …

R.I.P. Frank the 4th (Xbox) July 17, 2009

It happened again. Frank, my 4th xbox has caught the red virus. He had been coughing for a while. Wheezing whenever he would try to faithfully spin up another disc for me. How to Add Wi-Fi to your Xbox 360 without getting ripped off

Everyone who gets an Xbox 360 has to ask themselves one question. How do I get this thing hooked up to my network? And if you are like me and everything in your house is wireless, then this is the route you would want to take.
The problem is that the Xbox 360 does not come with wireless built in, and the wireless dongle does not get packed in with any version of the Xbox 360 you can get.
So you go to the store to buy the wireless dongle which …

Dragon Natural Speaking is the world’s most famous voice-recognition software. It’s goneĀ  through ten versions. And although there’s been serious improvement from when I started experimenting with it on version 5 or 6, the bottom line is it still sucks. Even with training and a good mic, I still can’t get it to write a single e-mail or essay without encountering numerous examples of self-parody. Or as Dragon would call it: Nuremberg exams of saved parrots. Don’t even get me started on Microsoft’s attempts at voice-recognition.
Even if they were to …

I do like seeing whatever Ben comes up with next, even though to me a lot of it looks like it would not be that useful. But this, this is one I think I would want. Actually, I know I would want it. Xbox 360 in laptop format. Fantastic. Think of how easy it would be to travel with it. I wonder if he would sell me one? – read more -
