So here’s an interesting bit. It looks like EA’s now aborted shooter based in the Command & Conquer universe has joined the ranks of StarCraft: Ghost as another failed attempt of changing RTS over to FPS. What’s really most amusing about future trivia question known as Tiberium is that it was cancelled because of an in-house quality control check. And I quote:

“The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label. A lower-quality game is not in the best interest of the consumers and would not succeed in this market.”

First off, the obvious. EA has a quality control department?! If anything you’d think that EA would take some pride in having proven that second part of the statment wrong time and time again.

Second, the painfully inadequate. I’m not shedding a tear over this game because frankly I’m just not a fan of the series. But shouldn’t the excuse they give on a cancelled game that many fans are probably looking forward to make a little sense? To say that the game wasn’t meeting your own standards is like a baseball pitcher taking himself out of a game for throwing too lazily from the mound. Um, if it’s not good enough then get off your ass and try a little harder. Start making it better. It’s YOUR game. YOU have control over how good it is.

I could go on bashing EA over this since it’s so easy, but then again, do I really want to lament one less FPS? No. No, I don’t.
